LG today formally announced that its G6 flagship smartphone is begin released around the world starting this week. The company presents the G6 as the “first global flagship smartphone to ship in 2017” (take that, Samsung), saying it should reach almost 200 carriers and operators worldwide in the next few weeks.
In the US, although its official release date is April 7 (tomorrow), the LG G6 can already be ordered from all four major mobile carriers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Of course, starting tomorrow, the handset will be widely available in stores nationwide. An unlocked version of the phone should also be launched in the near future.
Costing around $600 – $700, depending on where you’re getting it from, the G6 seems to be one of the best LG-made flagship phones thus far. It’s certainly an impressive device, thanks in no small part to its 5.7-inch FullVision display that’s fitted into a very compact body – for a handset of this class. Other highlights include shock and water resistance, a dual 13 MP rear camera with lots of features, 4 GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 821 processor (though this is not the latest and greatest Qualcomm chipset).
